Quartzite

Quartzite

Quartzite is a natural metamorphic stone formed from sandstone subjected to intense heat and pressure over time. Known for its durability and resistance to heat, it is often chosen for countertops and other surfaces. Each slab is unique, featuring variations in color, veining, and mineral composition. While quartzite is harder than marble and granite, it is still porous and requires regular sealing to prevent staining. Some natural characteristics of quartzite may include subtle fissures, color variations, mineral deposits, and occasional surface pits.

Quartzite Care

To preserve the beauty of quartzite, clean it with a soft cloth or sponge and mild soap or a pH-balanced cleaner. Wipe up spills immediately to prevent staining, especially from acidic substances. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive scrubbers, or ammonia-based cleaners, as they can dull the surface over time. While quartzite is heat-resistant, using trivets or hot pads is recommended to prevent thermal shock.

Things to avoid: Acidic foods and drinks, red wine, coffee, citrus juices, tomato-based products, abrasive cleaners, bleach, ammonia, excessive heat exposure, cutting directly on the surface, and heavy impacts that may cause chipping.
